Waterfalls of Western North Carolina and other Notable Sights

Most of these sights have been visited by Bad Bob and I while riding our motorcycles lidless in the mountains of WNC. You’ll never feel so alive than the first time you take your lidless motorcycle tour of the waterfalls. At the time of this writing only two helmet tickets have been issued during thousands of miles of smiles.

Most of these waterfalls are in Western North Carolina but few are just over the border in South Carolina or Tennessee. These water falls are listed in a rough loop: Bald River Falls, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Whitewater Falls, Twin Falls, Connestee Falls, Looking Glass Falls, Graveyard Fields, Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, High Falls, Pearsons Falls, Shunkawauken Falls, Big Bradley Falls, Little Bradley Falls, Hickory Nut Gorge Falls, Mcgalliard Falls, and Mingo Falls. All of these falls are free to visit other than nominal fees at Whitewater Falls, Pearsons Falls, and Hickory Nut Falls.

Other Notable Sights along the way include: Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Poinsett Bridge, Campbells Covered Bridge, Sunday Bike Games at The Lake Bowen Country Club, Cowpens Battlefield, and Kings Mountain Battlefield. You will surely find other interesting places to visit along your ride.

Notable motorcycle roads to ride include: The Dragon at Deals Gap on US 129, The Hellbender on NC 28 near Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway on NC 143 just south of Deals Gap and US 129, the Blue Ridge Parkway, White Oak Mountain Road in Columbus, Green River Cove Road in Saluda, and Greenville Highway from Saluda to Poinsett Bridge. Some of these roads are challenging and not fit for beginners. However seasoned motorcycle riders will enjoy the ride.

Nice places to rest and relax include: Riders Roost, Hot Springs Campground, and the Punkin Center Motorcycle Resort. Some of these locations are motorcycle only sorry cagers. There is a nice restaurant to visit near Riders Roost hidden away at Mountain View Riding Stables ask Uncle Roy for directions.

Great places to eat include: Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company, Anthony's Restaurante Pizzeria in Bryson City, The Paddlers Pub in Hot Springs, Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort, and the Mellow Mushroom in Asheville. If you get a helmet ticket and need to go to court Anthony’s is within easy walking distance of the courthouse in Bryson City.
