The Dragon and Cherohala Skyway

Uncle Rock and the Slugs were saved by the Dragon during May 14-18, 2003. There is no lack of great roads to ride near Deals Gap. Local hotels and businesses are extremely biker friendly and southern hospatality is certianly alive and well. The Dragon begins at the intersection of US Highway 129 and NC Highway 28. The Dragon has 318 turns in 11 miles; the Dragon is often quite busy with the traffic of bikes and a few sport cars. Cherohala Skyway has some challenging curves as well and some great scenic views. The Cherohala Skyway begins at the intersection of US Highway 129 and NC Highway 143; as one crosses the Tennessee state line NC Highway 143 becomes TN Highway 165.
