This review isn't currently available but has been offered in the past on Air B&B. It is in a lovely neighborhood dominated by locals. The is an incredible view of the city as it overlooks Otavalo. Close enough to walk to and from town but you can ride the city bus or take a taxi if you would rather. I like the rather country setting. It reminds me of home but the mountains are much bigger than the blue ridge ...learn more
Other wonderful places I have stayed in Ecuador include apartments, hostals, hotels, and comunitarios. One place that really stands out in Puyo is Lisan Wasi Centro TurĂstico Comunitario. At Lisan Wasi you can volunteer to save money and learn a great deal about the culture and medicinal plants. When you stay here you will live in an authentic elevated lodge that is comfortable and actually has an electrical outlet. There is a tea lodge and a wonderful kitchen to keep you hydrated and fed. For the more adventurous there is the possibility of expanding your mind.
This hostal has a shared kitchen where you can prepare meals. Owner often provides fruit for breakfast. There is nice porch on the rood with great views of Otavalo and surrounding mountains. Rooms are nice with some variety to fit your budget. Staff will happily arrange transportation to or from the airport. The location is great with a very short walk to Plaza de Ponchos or the main square. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I will return again.
This this place had a nice roof top view of the local airforce base. Marco, the host, was very friendly. He knew everything of the busses and the things to do around. You can book tours with him to Cotopaxi. He even drove me to the terminal to take a bus! Also breakfast is included and is good. It the perfect place to stay for tours of Quilotoa and Cotopaxi. I stopped by here on y way to Banos de Agua Santa to see the volcano.
I like the common kitchen available to guests and the common areas. Don Victor the owner and his family are great hosts. My now exgirlfriend had a great experience during the fifteen days we stayed at Hostal Princesa Maria practicing Spanish with the staff. We learned a lot and Victor has other properties in mind for future guests including birders. Victor also rents apartments around town.
This hotel is nice and proper in the heart of the tourist zone of Quito. Most tourists will love this location with easy walking to most items of interest for shoppers. The more adventurous may walk to Old Town but most will not. There are many places to eat and drink very close to you room. If you take a taxi back you can name the hotel or simply say gringo
This is a great place to stay if you want to see the historic center of Quito. You can admire the ancient Inca's ruins that make up the foundations of old churches. There are many places to eat ranging from western to Ecuadorian. The huge squares make the city more livable. Try some of the local ice cream.
The family and staff were the best. I felt like a close friend or member of the family by the time my visit was over. They were busy building a new kitchen but it did not disturb the guests. I will absolutely visit again. Got great tips that improved my visit to Cuenca and helped plan my trip to Peru. Excellent location as well. Great places to eat well and affordable. Excellent craft breweries within walking distance. Mercado is just a short walk away. Nice river to walk along to the nearby Inca ruins and museum.
