Rebuild Status 2026: Navigating the Bureaucratic Rapids

As we look toward the 2026 season, the mission has shifted from survival to reconstruction post Helene. The requirement is clear: I must build a two-bedroom home to replace the pre-existing cabin, and per current regulations, the entire living structure and all electrical equipment must be raised at least six feet above grade. I have already made a substantial payment to move the needle, but I am currently still stalled in bureaucracy that has backlogged the recovery.

I am still awaiting the resolution of my case from an oversight body that shall remain unnamed while I attempt to finalize the process. At this writing, I expect a resolution within the next two weeks. With any luck, a contract will finally be signed and the physical work of rebuilding the "home place" can begin soon.
