Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway without a lid
Photos and article by FastFred Ruddock
Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway my way without a helmet or care. The skies were cloudy and overcast but the riding weather was excellent. I want to do this ride again when the weather is cool and skies are clear. I was told by park officials that the road is closed near mile post 400 due to a landslide. In case you are wondering mile marker 400 is in Western North Carolina. The Virginia stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway was a nice country ride with ample places to camp and a few places to eat.

This helmet free ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway was the perfect way to finish the Sons of Liberty Riders TEA Party weekend. I departed the Blue Ridge Parkway near the NC/VA state line and rode faster on I-77 where I finally encountered some cooling rain. Would you like to be part of an organized ride from one end of the Blue Ridge to the other?
