North Charleston Candidate Debate: from one swamp to another!

Photos and article by FastFred Ruddock, May 22, 2007

I began the evening with a hike in a swamp and ended the evening in a political swamp. Mayor Summey debated Douglas. I was not planning to vote for Summey until I heard the debate. Summey appears to respect our state and federal constitutions far more than his opponent. I was really disappointed by the first half of the city council members who debated their positions on issues. I now have even more respect for my city council member; his debate is coming up on June 6th.

However I was disappointed that only two bikers out of a city of 90,000 bothered to come participate in this civic event. Mayor Summey provided free BBQ for all who cam to the event regardless of who they supported. I am hopeful to see many more local bikers at the next debate in June. The election will be very soon!
