This fall I began running the Green River Narrows near Saluda, North Carolina. Running the Green was one of my goals when I began kayaking in the fall of 2007; I achieved the goal in just less than three years. The Green Narrows is the classic steep creek of the Southern Appalachian Mountains by which all others are measured. I shot the following short video clip with my helmet cam during my fourth run of the gnarrs in October.
This video features the entrance rapids of the Green River Narrows. I ran out of free space on the memory chip just before the rapid named Pincushion. I'll add more footage in the future. This clip also features Chris Matthews making a clean run Frankenstein although running most of this class V rapid in reverse. Other than Frankenstein most of the whitewater in this video is class IV in nature.
